I am a Writer/Director/Producer born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I lived away from my native place since 2003. I first moved to Guatemala City, then Mexico City, and I am currently residing and working in the city of Los Angeles, California.I have a Bacholor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires and a Master's Degree in Communications as well. While living in Mexico, I completed a one-year program in script writing. In the past years, I have been working towards a certificate from the Writing Program at UCLA Extension. In addition, I have participated in numerous screenwriting and directing workshops.
My start as a filmmaker began as a Producer/Director of mine own short documentaries. Interestingly, my trajectory as a filmmaker was sparked by my video projects for market and communication research. My 10-year advertising career was comprised of serving in established companies, such as Ogilvy, BBDO, JWT and Casanova Pendrill. I found my passion for documenting the lives and history of people, and this has lead me to pursue a career as a screenwriter in both fiction and non-fiction genres. My first documentary, shot in Mexico, Digna Merced (Dignity at La Merced) was prized with the Pantalla de Cristal for editing and photography in 2005. Then in 2006, as Co-Director of El Sonido de los Pájaros (Bird Sounds), I was awarded first place by the Corto Cinema Film Festival. Most recently I co-directed a short documentary in Mississipi, As a Man Thinketh. The short was screened at the Blues Museum in Clarksdale and was participated in Crossroad film festival 2009. My screenplays Del Amor, la Felicidad y Otras Boludeces (Love, Happiness, and Other Stupid Things) and ¿De Dónde Vienen los Bebés? (Lost and Found in Guatemala) were both finalists at the Habana International Film Festival. I founded in 2009 my production company, Orale Entertainment. The main goal is giving supports to others directors while moving ahead for my projects. I assisted Uli Stezner in his documentary La Isla (The Island), a film about searching for an understanding of the history of Guatemala's government repression during the 80's. I was assistant producer in Friends in Common, a Betsy Kalin documentary about a multicultural neighborhood in Boyle Heights, L.A. Nowadays I am in pre-production of my short feature film, Felicidad en Conserva (Canned Happiness), and in the development on my documentary, Ingratas (Ingrates). |
