Yoram Mandel is the creator of "Screenz" a television series which he had developed with Producer Udi Segal 2006 . The show ran for two seasons (2007 – 2008) on YES Satellite TV Israel and received raving reviews, a total of 100 episodes.
Yoram Mandel began his film career in NYC in 1985 when he produced Bill Sherwood’s Parting Glances starring Steve Buscemi (a Cinecom release). He then continued producing independent films including Peter Gothar’s Just Like Amerika (the first Hungarian-Japanese-American co-production), Andy Horn’s The Big Blue (Angelika Films release) which opened the Forum in Berlin in 1988, Milos Forman - Portrait for PBS Channel 13 and BBC Omnibus, Tom DiCillo’s Johnny Suede starring Brad Pitt and Catherine Keener (a Miramax release) which won the Golden Leopard Award for best film in Locarno, and Richard Glatzer’s Grief starring Craig Chester, Illeana Douglas and Alexis Arquette (a Strand release).
Upon his return to Israel in 1997, Yoram was offered the position of Head of Curriculum and Production at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem and headed the new Scriptwriting Department.
Between the years 2000 - 2005, Yoram Mandel has been Head of Script Development for JCS Productions, developing materials for both TV and film. Among the films and TV programs produced during this period are:
Nine (9) feature length fiction films including Paper Snow – winner of the Israeli Academy Award for Best TV Feature, The Long Journey into Misery – winner of Best Film at the Eilat Film Festival, Children of the USSR – winner of Best Drama at the Jerusalem Film Festival and Out of Sight – winner of the Israeli Academy Award for Best Director and Best Photography.
Two (2) sitcoms: Life isn't Everything (3 seasons) and Mommy Queerest
Five (5) TV dramas, including the comedy Amsalem's Tears
One (1) police-drama series – Case Closed.
Since leaving JCS Productions, Mandel has been involved in the development and script editor of TV series and mini-series:
Someone to Run With based on David Grossman's novel, (Dir. Oded Davidoff) - a mini-series for HOT Cable TV which was also turned into a box-office successful feature by the same title.
No Exit (Dir. Dror Sabo) - a mini-series for HOT Cable TV which was also turned into an award winning feature (Best film at the Jerusalem Film Festival).
The Arbitrator (Writer Reshef Levy,Dir. Shay Kanot) a gangster weekly drama series with a comic twist – currently in the works on its third season.
Exposed (Writer Shachar Magen, Dir. Rani Sa'ar) a daily drama series for HOT Cable TV – two seasons aired, a total of 160 episodes.
Over the last ten years, Yoram Mandel has also been teaching scriptwriting courses at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem and at Tel Aviv University Film Department.
